FOL is run entirely by volunteers! We need your help to make all our activities a success. All volunteers must be active FOL members and must attend training before volunteering.
Volunteers are active in the basement of Mahon Library during regular volunteer hours. These hours are subject to change during holidays or due to administrative issues. All active volunteers are kept apprised of changes.
- Monday: 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM
- Tuesday: 9:00 AM - 8:00 PM
- Wednesday: 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM
- Thursday: 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
- Friday: 12:00PM – 3:00 PM
- Saturday: 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM
- Sunday: Closed
Volunteer activities cover a wide range of choices:
- Sort donations: as books are received, they need to be inventoried, priced, and organized.
- Participate in the BookStore: it requires 20 volunteers per BookStore day to provide customer assistance and checkout services.
- Help the BookStore team: making sure all areas are ready for each BookStore — including housekeeping, signage, printing, wrangling boxes and carts, contacting students, stocking supplies, removing recyclables, etc.
- Participate in Online Sales, preparing and listing items for sale on eBay, handling correspondence with customers, and packing and shipping orders.
- Manage one of over 65 subject areas included on the sales floor.
- Oversee the Facebook, City, and FOL websites.
- Prepare and distribute publicity.
- Participate in outreach at volunteer fairs and city-wide events.
- Serve on the FOL Board of Directors.
